Notice of Intention

TO AMEND THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST CODE OF THE ZOO DEPARTMENT

Notice is hereby given that the Zoo Department, pursuant to the authority vested in it by section 87306 of the Government Code, proposes amendment to its Conflict of Interest Code.  The purpose of these amendments is to implement the requirements of sections 87300 through 87302, and section 87306 of the Government Code.

The Zoo Department proposes to amend its Conflict of Interest Code to include employee positions that involve the making or participation in the making of decisions that may foreseeably have a material effect on any financial interest, as set forth in subdivision (a) of section 87302 of the Government Code.

This amendment ensures that the current disclosure categories accurately describe the economic interests to be disclosed on the Form 700, Statement of Economic Interests.  Please see attached table(s) for specific changes.

Any interested person may submit written statements, arguments, or comments relating to the proposed amendments by submitting them in writing no later than 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, to the contact person set forth below.

The Zoo Department will hold a public hearing on the proposed regulations at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, in the Grand Room at The Los Angeles Zoo, 5333 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90027, at which time any person may present statements or arguments orally or in writing, relevant to this proposal.
